WEEK 2 - NON TRADITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Reflection:

This is the first time we started to learn the foundamental skill of photography in CRIC.

Basically it is fun and i enjoyed the time during the lesson. However, later i found out that my camera couldn't take any photo TT_TT the screen stated that there was no detect of any compact flash card but i had checked a multiple times that the compact flash card was totally fine. I asked Luke and he suggested i go buy another compact flash card as it might seemed to be fault of the compact flash card. As i result, i couldn't take any photos during the lesson TT_TT.(I felt i was totally not doing anything during the lesson and i felt a little anxious as everyone could place some photos in their Behance and i had none of themTT_TT). Then during the lunch time i run to the nearby camera stalls in Jurong East for purchasing a new compact flash card but....when i bought it and realised that the camera was still  not working.(Besides, i dropped my phones and laptop on that day....felt like the most horrible day in 2016...)

Anyway, during the lesson i tried to get some new ideas and skills as much as possible and i gained interest on HOCKNEY’S JOINER. I did preparation before the lesson started so i know how this works, and i think of using this way of photography to take the picture of Mona Lisa would be very amazed, and any traditional oil paint would work with Hockney's Joiner to bring out an interesting photography. Don't you think so?

During the lesson, I learnt about 4 types of non-traditional photography- FOCUS, MOVEMENT, HOCKNEY’s JOINER and REFLECTIONS.

FOCUS:
Manual focus
Maximum aperture
Focus at infinity or min Distant
Wide angle lens
Perforated panel
I  tried to take my own photos nearby my house.
This photo was taken with the front object in focus and blury background. It took me a while before i could get such result.

I had seen online that when everything is out of focus, it could achieve a different kind of effect sometimes so i did additional kind of photography that is not taught during the class. It looked quite interesting though!

MOVEMENT:
Slow shutter speed
Maximum aperture
Wide angle lens
Different direction
Varies the speed

HOCKNEY’S JOINER:
Standard lens
Maximum aperture
Row by row Left to right
Photoshop photo merge
Small Image size

REFLECTIONS:
Telephoto lens
Maximum aperture
Tripod Mirror
Reflective material
This photo i took at very slow shutter speed and i quite happy that the result
(practice and practice...)

HOCKNEY’S JOINER:
Standard lens
Maximum aperture
Row by row Left to right
Photoshop photo merge
Small Image size
These photos are taken by Luke as my camera didn't work during the lesson.
Through this lesson, i knew how to form Hockney's Joiner using photoshop and Bridge CC.

REFLECTIONS:
Telephoto lens
Maximum aperture
Tripod Mirror
Reflective material

Brief:
You are to use digital photography like aperture, shutter speed and composition to create a series of 3-5 images based on your study of the experimental intent.

Provide the following for your series:
Brief of project
Experimental processes
Images with caption

I took a long time struggling with the techniques and i felt those photos i have taken are really poor in standard (@_@)
I tried taken a lot of photos of different ways of photography.
Though Luke said i could choose only one or two of the techniques, i did many additional shoots on other techniques to enhance my learning on those techniques.
This photo i took with a focus on the small little plant and blurry background.
The idea i want to protray is that every corner of our lives, there are many little amazing small little lifes that struggling to survive, so why do we feel we could not overcome difficulties and wanted to give up most of the times? I think it was all about our way of judging things.
This photo i want to focus on the light penetrated through the leaves in the foreground.
(practice and practice....)

wow....i love those patterns ///_///
This photo i took with a focus on the flowers at the beginning and shoot with a sudden zoom-out.
Feeling more excited now....
Let's try more!

This photo i set in very slow shutter speed and shoot with movement of the camera.
Look at the waves of light! *_*
There are few more to come!

I love this photo that i took.
I named it as "Traffic Flow".
As every day everyone here come and go, life is all about moving on. Everyone has their own direction of life.

This photo i set as the same slow shutter speed as the previous photo but i tried to move and draw at the same time!
I learnt this technique through the artwork of MICHAEL Bosanko, a photographer that always set his camera at very long exposure time and draw at the same time.
Feeling quite interesting to play with lights in photography!
